Before a photo shoot, many people ask the question: what should I wear? How will I stand in front of the camera? Do I need to know in advance how I want to pose? The answer is simple: you don’t have to figure everything out perfectly in advance. Photography is not an exam where you have to present a good solution that you have learned in advance. These tips are there to help you arrive more prepared, more confident and to make it easier for us to find the look that really suits you. I help all the way on site, I guide the process, and together we create the images that will be natural and self-identical. Let’s see what you should pay attention to before taking photos!

1. Arrive rested

Fatigue can be seen not only in your well-being, but also in the pictures. If possible, pay a little more attention to rest in the days before the photo shoot and don’t try to catch up with everything at the last minute.

The most beautiful pictures require not only the right lighting, but also the feeling of being comfortable in front of the camera.

2. Think about what kind of pictures you want

Before you go, it’s a good idea to think about what you want to use the images for and what kind of atmosphere you want to see in them. The direction may be different for a business portrait shoot, where the goal is a confident, professional look, and for a more personal, relaxed portrait series.

For inspiration, feel free to collect images that are close to you in mood – this will help us understand your ideas better.

3. You don’t need to know how to pose – I’ll help you

Many people are most afraid that they will not know how to stand or what to do in front of the camera. This is completely natural.

During the photo shoot, I help with posture, movements and small details. I don’t expect you to come as an experienced model. But if you want, you can try some natural moves in front of the mirror at home beforehand, so you can find out more easily what you feel good about. But it’s also perfectly okay not to prepare anything – the best moments often come spontaneously.

4. Choose a dress that you are yourself in

The dress can add a lot to the mood of the pictures. It is worth bringing several sets with you, especially in the case of portrait or business photography, as this way we can create several looks.

The best choice is usually the one you feel comfortable with. You can also see in the pictures if a dress is uncomfortable or you don’t feel like yourself in it.

Before the photoshoot, be sure to try on the clothes you have chosen at home. A new piece can be beautiful, but if it turns out only on the spot that it is not comfortable, tight, wrinkled or does not stand as you imagined, it can cause unnecessary stress.

5. Accessories can also make a big difference

A small detail often makes the pictures more special. An elegant piece of jewelry, a favorite watch, a special scarf or other personal item can help make the photos even more about you.

Here, too, it is worth striving for simplicity: accessories should support the appearance and not distract attention from you.

6. Makeup and hairstyle – the goal is a natural look

You don’t have to completely change your appearance before taking photos. The goal is not for someone else to appear in the pictures, but to see yourself in your best form and confidently.

A natural makeup can help a lot to make your skin look more uniform in the pictures, and when it comes to hairstyles, you should choose a solution that you feel good in. If we work with a make-up artist, we can also find the direction that suits you and the mood of the photo shoot.

7. Don’t experiment first on the day of the shoot

A new hairstyle, a new hair color, a completely new style of dress? It may seem like a good idea, but it’s worth not trying these out right before the shoot.

If you test everything in advance, you arrive much more relaxed, because you know exactly that you feel good in a given look.

8. Pay attention to the small details

In the pictures, the smaller details also matter. It is worth paying attention to, for example:

These seem like small things, but they contribute to making the end result really demanding.

The most important thing: don’t arrive perfect, but as yourself

Photography is not about showing up flawlessly. My goal is to create images of you in a calm, safe atmosphere in which you recognize yourself. If you want natural, honest and timeless photos, I will be happy to help you from the preparation to the finished pictures.
